Balkan Economic Forum initiated and implemented a project “Days of Austrian literature in North Macedonia”. The goal of this project is to promote Austrian literature among the relevant stakeholders in North Macedonia, in order to bring Austrian literature closer to the general public; to strengthen the potential of the cultural sector at the international level; stimulate the international distribution of cultural works, strengthening the financial potential of the sector, strengthening the decision-making mechanisms. The project is financially supported by Steiermärkische Verwaltungssparkasse (Graz, Austria).
The main event took place on 31.03.2022, with official addresses from:

- Mr. Daim Luchi, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia

- Dr. Johanna Rachinger, Director General of the Austrian National Library
- Ms. Nina Nedanoska, Management Board Member, Sparkasse Bank Macedonia
BEF is particularly proud of the signed Memorandum of understanding between the National and University Library of North Macedonia and the National Library of Austria, which contributes to strengthening relations between the two countries, whereas the organized event is the first visible result of such cooperation. The exhibition is open for 30 days, presenting books by Austrian authors that are part of the literary fund of the National and University Library of North Macedonia, books by Austrian authors donated by the National Library of Austria, and books by Austrian authors winners of literary awards won through the SCHREIBEREI competition organized by Steiermaerkische Sparkasse Bank, Austria.
